The Hotchkiss School

FOCUS:
Educating leaders and change-makers
Founded in Lakeville, Connecticut in 1891, pupils studying at Hotchkiss have access to a ‘green-conscious’ campus and a STEAM led institute. The broad liberal arts curriculum is unique in offering a Classics diploma where pupils gain an in-depth understanding of ancient linguistics in Greek and Latin. Scientifically inclined pupils can use the ‘Engineering, Fabrication and Exploration Lab’ which houses a DNA sequencer and an observatory. For the more musical, opportunities abound in the ‘Esther Eastman Music Centre’ which boasts a concert hall and digital recording studios. The school’s ‘Fairfield Farm’ produces 30% of the school food and offers pupils the chance to directly participate in organic agriculture and sustainable education. Athletes are also well-provided for, with a range of facilities such as the ‘Hotchkiss Gold Club’.
