Philips Exeter Academy

FOCUS:
Intellectually curious explorers
Established in the late 1700s, Philips Exeter is founded on the principles of academic excellence, humanitarianism and education for the greater good. Pupils are expected to develop a broad, critical mindset across different disciplines, and an ability to listen equitably to the opinions of others. This educational ethos is core to Exeter’s ‘Harkness’ educational approach with pupils guided in discussing and exploring different ideas, and developing the skills to both speak and listen actively. With an emphasis on diversity and inclusion in ideas and persons, internationalism is also core to the school ethos, with study aboard terms and multiple international camps focusing on business, entrepreneurship, sustainability, and the Arts. Alumni include Mark Zuckerberg, Dan Brown, and John Irving.
